FROM FARM TO FORK

The company was founded by Sean Loughnane, who has been in the retail butchering business all his life. Originally from Loughrea, Sean moved to Galway and set up a retail butcher shop in 1975. This business grew to be one of the best known butcher shops in the country.

In 1992 Sean and Ann Loughnane opened a second store in Galway, this was an award winning specialist fresh food hall with emphasis placed on quality of products and ultimately customer satisfaction.

QUALITY AND TRANSPARENCY FOR GENERATIONS

As one of Ireland’s largest sausage and pudding producers Loughnane’s offers a broad range of sausages and puddings chilled or frozen and raw or pre-cooked formats. We produce and sell sausages and puddings to the retail in both Irish and international markets. Our experience in making quality Irish sausages and puddings goes back four generations of butchers to 1975.

INNOVATION

In 2001 the focus change to manufacturing particularly sausages and breakfast puddings for the food service and retail markets. Products are manufactured using a combination of traditional recipes from as far back as the 1970s and newer recipes to suit the needs and taste of the modern day consumer.

BRC ACCREDATION

Loughnanes of Galway is a product of Ireland, therefore, we always try to supply our ingredients from locally sourced suppliers. All of our suppliers in all aspects of the business comply with local regulations and are also BRC accredited. Due to this all of our materials can be traced. When it comes to production from suppliers the production manager does audits on our main suppliers to ensure compliance. Loughnanes also has accredited suppliers that are used in the rare case that one of the raw material providers has managed to run out of stock.

R&D

‘R&D initiatives in this company are co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020. The aim was to develop a range of products using different proteins, flavour profiles and processes increasing R&D activity which will drive company development. The result was the launch of a whole new range of products which include meat free, winter and summer sausages and chicken sausages onto current and new markets.’

 

A Key Manager has been co-funded in this company by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020. The aim was to recruit a Key Manager who will bring skills into the company that are critical to future growth. The result was the Key Manager commenced employment and is contributing to improvements in company productivity and to changes in output to meet defined market requirements
